Twigfall is a 1v1 stick fighting game where timing beats button mashing. Read your opponent, parry at the last second, dodge a spear by a hair, knock the weapon out of their hands and finish the fight with a slow-motion K.O. replay. It is a short, quick game for a bus ride or a duel with a friend.

How the combat works

The key idea is rhythm. Tap HIT again the moment your hit lands and you chain a combo. Mash the button and the chain stops. Defence matters as much as attack: you can block, parry, and break the guard of a tired opponent. Dodging has options too. Lean back, duck under high hits, or roll right through your enemy.

Stamina limits everything. Run it dry and your fighter is winded. Fill the super bar and you can land a big finishing move. You can also disarm your opponent, pick up dropped weapons and launch them into the air.

Picking a fighter

Each of the four fighters plays differently.

  • Kai uses a sword. He is balanced, with fast chains.
  • Bo uses iron fists. He rushes down and has an armored dash.
  • Vera uses a spear with long reach, and can throw it.
  • Grom uses a hammer. He is heavy, with armored slams.

A good way to learn is to pick the fighter whose style matches how you like to play, then try another in Training mode, where you fight a dummy.

Arenas that fight back

There are three arenas: Stone Temple, Night Rooftop and Windy Cliff. They have walls to smash into, railings that break and pits to fall into. Crates can be jumped over, rocks can trip you, and junk falls from the sky that you can throw at your rival. Watching the stage as well as your opponent is part of winning.

Ways to play

  • Quick Match against bots on easy, medium or hard.
  • Tournament: win 5 fights in a row to take the title.
  • 2 Players on one phone.
  • Online with a friend: create a room and send the code.
  • Training mode with a dummy.

Every fighter and style can be earned with coins you collect by playing.

Playing with friends

During a match you can send taunts to your opponent. When you land a great knockout, share your top K.O. as a picture.

Tips for a first fight

Start in Training to feel the timing of the combo chain. Then try Quick Match on easy and watch your stamina. Move to Tournament once parrying feels natural.
