Zapline is an IPTV player for the M3U and M3U8 playlists, Xtream Codes logins and XMLTV EPG guides you already have. It includes no channels and no content. You bring your own source, and Zapline plays it, shows the guide and tells you when something goes wrong. There are no ads in the app.

What an IPTV player does

An IPTV player does not supply television. It reads a source that you or your provider already control: a playlist file listing channels, an account login for a service, or a tuner on your home network. The player turns that into a channel list, a program guide and a video screen. Zapline is that layer, and nothing else. It does not provide or suggest sources.

Adding your sources

  • M3U or M3U8 playlists from a URL, a file or the clipboard.
  • An Xtream Codes API login, for live channels, movies and series.
  • HDHomeRun tuners, found automatically on your home network.
  • EPG data from XMLTV, including .gz files, with more than one guide source if you want.

The guide is matched to your channels automatically. When the match is wrong you can map channels by hand, and when the guide is off by an hour or two you can apply a time shift.

Using the guide

The EPG is a scrollable grid with now and next on every channel. Where your provider supports it there is catch-up, and you can set program reminders. Search covers channels, programs, movies and series. You can watch and browse at the same time.

When a stream will not play

Most IPTV frustration is not knowing why. Zapline shows clear error cards with a code that tells you whether the provider, the network or the device is at fault. Problems such as too many connections, expired accounts and rejected logins are named for what they are. For Xtream Codes, you can see your account status and how many connections are in use. Dead channels show an explanation instead of an endless spinner. A stream that drops reconnects automatically, and there is an adjustable buffer size and a stream diagnostics screen.

Large playlists and audio

Imports run in the background, so you can keep using your phone. A playlist with 100,000 channels imported in under a minute in testing on a mid-range phone, and the app opens in about a second. AC3, E-AC3 and DTS audio plays out of the box.

Make it yours

Zapline supports 10 languages and 8 accent colours, and has a light and a dark theme.

Please use Zapline only with sources you have the right to use.
